Anti-aging-obsessed tech mogul Bryan Johnson has shared one of the shocking key ingredients he uses daily to keep himself looking young. Johnson, 46, says that every day for the past “three years,” he’s been munching down on chocolate to help with his quest to cheat death, according to his latest YouTube video.
“Sometimes the things that are good for us we don’t do,” Johnson says in the video, which has reached nearly 500k views since being posted on Thursday. However, the biohacker isn’t scarfing down Hershey bars — he’s taking in measured-out cocoa daily to help him on his health quest.
He explains a long list of benefits cocoa has on the body and claims eating a healthy amount of cocoa daily can do wonders for brain health, executive function, long-term memory, and heart health.
But the Californian tech mogul stressed that not all cocoa in the store will be “high-quality.”
“If you’re looking to buy high-quality cocoa, you want to look for several things; one, it’s pure cocoa; two is you want it to be undutched; three, you want to test it for heavy metals; and four, you want a high flavonol count,” he shared.
Johnson — whose Blueprint store sells cocoa, which he claims his team has “searched all over the world” for and “tested” to find the healthiest available — stressed that he’s more interested in his audience eating more “high-quality foods” than buying directly from his store.
“There’s this assumption that if the food is in our supermarkets that somehow it’s gone through some process making sure it’s safe. That’s not true,” he explains.
Johnson then shows some simple recipes in which he incorporates his cocoa powder to get his daily fill.
Mixing it in with some “Nutty pudding,” the tech mogul calls the addition “delicious.”
He also put some of the powder over some “super veggies”—which he wasn’t a fan of—but then mixed it in with some nutty butter, which he said tasted like “healthy Nutella.”
He even mixed some of the cocoa with coffee, which he called a “decadent” treat.
Johnson is no stranger to trying new anti-aging tricks.
He’s gained massive attention over the last year due to his controversial, and some would say unorthodox, methods of attempting to live forever.
He once received blood transfusions from his 17-year-old son in a bid to have the youngest possible biological age.
The biohacker spends about $2 million annually on regimes to reverse his age, which he dubs “Project Blueprint.”
He also claimed in February that he beat both balding and his hair greying using some unique methods, despite sharing he should “genetically” be bald.
“The best time to work on your hair is before you start losing it,” Johnson insisted, telling followers in their 20s to take precautionary measures before their strands start to thin or shed.
